Mini Fabric Bolts

This...is an outstanding idea!!!

I plan to make these when my craft room is completed!!! That way I can see all of my fabric.

Seriously. It's genius.

Make your own Fabric Bolts...

So this is pretty much what my fabric collection looks like in storage...(although, this is not my fabric collection.)

She took foam board and cut it into squares...

Then she wrapped her fabric around them...

So simple...and perfect for storage so you can see all your fabrics!!

LOVE IT

No-sew project!

April writing...

We have a little tin in our kitchen that holds our recyclables till it's full...then we take it outside. It serves its purpose quite well...but the style doesn't exactly match our decor...albeit our un-named decor...still.

Here's our cute wittle snowman tin. Well...cute wittle snowmen don't work for me in the spring, summer and fall months. So I decided to cover it! I thought about decoupaging it with some decorative paper...but that felt too permanent. Not that I plan on ripping it off ever winter to expose the sweet wittle snowmen...I just wanted something that wouldn't ruin the tin, if I decided to change the style later. Then it hit me!!! I will cover it with fabric!!!

So first I had to cover the snowman up with some paper, cause I could see it through my fabric. (which by the way, was an old set of Ikea curtains that used to hang in our living room...of which I have a TON leftover...the majority of which are being used as curtains in our ever developing basement to block dust from my craft area, pantry and laundry room!)

So I mono-adhesive the paper to the tin and then cover the tin with my fabric...which is double layered, thanks to it's original job as curtains.

As you can see I left a little overhand on the top and bottom...the bottom I will pull tightly under the tin and the top I will cut to shape and cover with ribbon...so keep reading...

How did I attach the fabric?? Well that was an easy choice. I used "sticky strip" a Stampin' Up product, of which I used to sell! It's fabulous for no sew projects...and bummer for me, this project used up the last of what I had...so I need to order more!!

So I used the "sticky strip" along the top of the tin and where my wrapped around seams met, and then where I pulled the fabric tight along the bottom.

*sorry my pictures are kinda dark...boo.

So, next thing I did was wrap some thin grosgrain ribbon around the top...two lines of it...cause I thought it added some style...

Then I cut out the holes where the handles were and added a thin line of ribbon around the handles as well...

Here's another view of the ribbon...

And here is the final product in it's spot in the kitchen...

I think it makes a great addition to the kitchen...and it doesn't scream "FROSTY THE SNOWMAN!"

It was a super easy no-sew project that took me about a half an hour to complete...thanks to OD for the extra hands when I needed them!

I SEW love them! :)

April writing...

So I finished up my bay window seat pillow about a week ago. *finally!* I had been so nervous about it. It didn't turn out quite like I wanted it to...but I am pleased. The window still looked a little empty to me, so I decided to make some pillows to go...

I used these fabrics...the underside obviously because it matched the pillow seat fabric.

Then I sketched in our initials "C E A" and stitched them on with green yarn.

on the other pillow I sketched out "est. 2003" and stitched them on with green yarn.

I stuffed both pillows and then sewed them up...this is getting exciting. I hope they look good on the window! (Does anyone else get nervous when they are about to see the final product?!)

Annnndddd waahhh-laaahhhh!!! I LOVE IT!! They looked great! I am super pleased with the outcome! What do you think??

Too impatient...that's my problem.

April writing...

Two different evenings since last Wednesday I have gone into my craft room and tried to sew more cloth baby shoes. Both evenings I have sorely butchered one of the shoes I tried to sew. I don't know why so much...it's basically my impatience. I want to have some made so I can sell them and give them away as I see fit...but I need to slow down.

I need to dedicate a day where it's just me and I can go down there without worrying about taking time away from the Husby (although I am sure he wouldn't mind sleeping on the couch while I sew). I need to pace myself and make them step by step.

I will get them done. And to drive myself in a more adult way...I will release the name of my soon-to-be Etsy shop...

"Wittle Feets and other Treats"

I plan to have baby shoes, headbands, wallets, etc. Just lots of cute, fun, homemade stuff for sale.

Some day soon...when I have slowed down and paced myself and just calmed down. ha! I guess my excitement got the best of me! :)

Soon.

My first try...

April writing...

...at Cloth Baby Shoes...

It took me an hour and half for the FIRST shoe alone...then the second shoe took 20 minutes haha! I plan to go down and make two more pairs after I get myself some nourishment.

What do you think? (And yes, for those of you wondering...these shoes are NOT for children walking...they are more like baby slippers!! But I literally made these with EXTRA fabric I had in my house!! AHH!!)

p.s. - I will post MORE pictures of my other pairs when they are complete!! :) Here they are....pair three coming soon!!!

It's me...the SLACKING BLOGGER

WOW! What a slacking blogger I have been...wait WE have been. Cory hasn't blogged either!! I will have to get on him as well!!
So, let's get you all caught up on life.

As you can see, I have been on Weight Watchers, now having finished my eighth week...I am 16.4 pounds lighter and MUCH, MUCH happier! It is really very exciting to see how the body changes...and to remember that the skinny me, isn't just on the inside...it can show outside too. ALMOST time for some new clothes...and just before spring. HOW EXCITING!!

Cory and I are doing really great. Equally loving life and driving each other nuts. Olive and Pickle (our puppies, not to be confused with any summertime condiments) are getting along GREAT! I am so glad we stuck with it and kept Olive around. She is such a doll and she is totally sweet. It is also about time to get her fixed...in fact *slapping a big hot pink post-it note on her calendar* there! I reminded myself to get on that!!

For a while there Cory was speeding along well on our downstairs bathroom...but that has come to a screeching hault. Not sure if it was us waiting on more funds, more time or both! :) Hopefully that will be complete soon...with PICTURES too!

As far as BABIES go, no news for us...however a BIG congratulations to our friends Jason and Brittany on thier FIRST little bundle of joy that is due, well let's just say he/she is due sometime in September 08! (since they can't make up thier mind, right Britt?!) We do have news IN the baby area...I should be starting some medication called 'Clomid' soon. Hopefully, without all the details...it will help Cory and I get pregnant in the first few cycles...maybe even the FIRST cycle. We are staying really positive about it all, continuosly. We know that God has much better, bigger plans than we could imagine, so I am always eager to see where we go!

I am continuing down my GOALS list of 2008 that I penned down earlier this year. As mentioned, I am losing the weight I wanted to lose, and I just BOUGHT a dress pattern. (One of my other goals was to sew a dress or purse) I jumped right in and bought the DRESS pattern! Call me crazy or just plain nuts...who knows. We shall see when I try putting this bad boy together! Here's the one I chose:

So, I am quite excited!!
I also just recently RE-SIGNED up as a Stampin-Up Demonstrator. (I think I blogged about that earlier this year!) So I am glad for that. things are going very well too!
Well, I think that about catches us up for now...I will let Cory catch you up on work, school, becoming and Elder, etc. *hint, hint*!! :) Talk to you sooner than soon!!! Adios!
