My Husband Rocks Friday

April writing...

This is going to be a total simpleton post...but for those of you who hate dishes and vacuuming as much as I do...then you will understand.

God gave me the perfect man...he likes...we at least doesn't mind doing those two things. Last night, we had a group of teens over from the Youth Group and I needed to vacuum the house before, and then do the dishes once the evening was over. He did both of those things...it is just such a load off!!!

Thanks babe for liking the chores I hate :)

Simple Pleasure Thursday

Cory Writing....

My simple pleasure this week is about the things we learn from our spouses. I never thought when I got married I would learn as much as I do from my wife. I always knew we would learn together, but to learn from her (don't take this wrong, my wife is brilliant) never crossed my mind. Well my wife has taught me a lot. Thank you babe for taking the time to teach me, and help me grow into a great husband.

What is your simple pleasure today?

Target parking lot ettiquette 101

April writing...

People annoy me. Call me irritable today...who knows. But this was uncalled for Old Man!

So I am in the Target parking lot...(see Figure 1) I am waiting patiently for a spot I see opening up...right in front of the doors...AWESOME!

(Figure 1)

As the car leaving the spot is about to drive away I notice another care coming from the other direction...I don't really think anything of it...because I am sitting here with my blinker on...surely he can see that. Plus I was here first...he is still driving to get to the spot! (See Figure 2)

(Figure 2)

Oh but here in Figure 3...I see the old man...as I got to turn into my spot. I am pulling in only as fast as I can...as I needed to wait for the person who just pulled out to clear out of the way.
(Figure 3)

As you can see in Figure 4...old man cuts me off...clearly as I am turning for my spot...and takes it. I threw my hands up...and had a mini hissy fit. *Mind you, as you can't see with this particular picture...in real life...there were other spots available...I was just floored!
(Figure 4)

In Figure 5 I slowly drive passed Old-spot-stealing-man eyeballin' him like there is NO tomorrow with my blinker still on! Not that he cared.
(Figure 5)

Some people.
Now...don't judge me. I say old man, because he was an older gentlemen...he was by no means some decrepit old man with a walker...he was pretty spry...as shown in the above figures by his driving!
Still...for being older and more experienced...he should know a little driving etiquette. I ended up parking across from him on the other lane...when I walked by...the little devil on my shoulder wanted me to key his car....the angel of course talked me out of it quickly stating that there very well could be parking lot cameras...and I would be just the fool to get caught!
So I walked on and cooled down (thanks to the cold, frigid wind) and enjoyed the rest of my trip through Target.
Man. And it's only Monday.
"They took all the trees and put them in a tree museum and they charged all the people a dollar and a half to see them. Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you you've got till it's gone? They've paved paradise and put up a parking lot."

Monday Moan

April writing...*the guest blogger for the MM.*

Because I have such a good moan, Cory let me guest blog for this post since this is normally his entry!

I am moaning BIG time today too! I am SO aggravated. Let me explain...

Back in January (at the end of the month) I called and spoke with my RE's (Reproductive Endocrinologist) office. I spoke with Darlene, the Medical Records representative. She stated to me that in order to get a copy of my records I would need to fax or mail a letter stating which documents I needed, or just to state that I need a copy of the entire record. It would need both myself and Cory's signature since it included information about us both. We would need to wait about 3-5 days to pick it up.

Ok. Fine. No biggee.

I waited a couple weeks till I got my new Doc's appointment scheduled. And I sent in the letter this morning. About 1:00 pm I get a call from dear Darlene. She stated to me that as of January 09 there were new guidelines about requesting copies of medical records. No longer did they need a letter, but there was a form to be filled out. Also, there was a $.73 charge per sheet copied...AND it would take two weeks.

This doesn't work for me on MANY levels.
#1 - The form aspect...no big deal.
#2 - The cost per sheet of paper. Re-donculous.
#3 - a two week wait???

Let me elaborate...Why in the good Lord's name does it take you 2 weeks to copy no more than 60 sheets of paper?? And WHY does it cost me $.73 for you to do that? Are you not already being paid? Are those not pictures of MY insides? Is that not documentation of MY cycles and MY bloodwork??

So I am highly aggravated...however stuck. I need those records for my new doctors appointment on Monday!!

I have worked in a Doctor's Office...I get it. When our patients requested copies we charged them $.10 a sheet. That's a jump of $.63!!!! Toner doesn't cost THAT much more...seriously people we are in a recession!!!

...and TWO WEEKS?!??!?!?!?!?!!?!

moan.

moan.

moan.

moan.

*sigh*

I'm aggravated.

Oscars...just a few of my thoughts...in pictures.

April writing...

So Cory and I caught some of the Oscars last night...oh who am I am kidding...we watched the Red Carpet and like 10 minutes of the show before we watched a movie...but I was able to catch some shining stars and some NOT so shining stars...

Let's start with some of those that DIDN'T shine...

Sarah Jessica Parker - Uhm...boobies much?
Jessica Beil - Girl...you are with Justin *freaking* Timberlake...step up your game.
Marissa Tomei - What the heck are you wearing?
Beyonce - Just no.

And JENNFER...oh sweet Jennifer Anniston. It's bad enough that you are even WITH John Mayer...but you had to use the back entrance?? He's holding you down...it's sad really.

Now...onto those shining stars...

Miley Cyrus - You were stunning...I absolutely LOVED your dress!!! Just gorgeous!
Diane Lane - You are always graciously beautiful...last night was NO different. *except I wasn't too much a fan of your orangey lipstick...but I can overlook that...once.
Brangelina - I'm sorry...but you two are just...wow. Nicely done. Always pulling off the class.

And two my TWO absolutely favorite leading ladies...Penelope Cruz and Kate Winslet...you two looked simply AMAZING!!! I mean...Penelope...that dress!! Ughhh...so beautiful. And Kate...you could make a moomoo look amazing...you are on top of the world...and I am so ecstatic!

There were many other duds...but I decided to share just a few of my thoughts...like I said...we quickly transitioned out of Red Carpet mode into movie mode! Hope you enjoyed my quick little recap.

Oh and the Monday Moan is coming later...whenever my dear Husby awakens from his pre-work slumber!

Wasting time at work...digitally! :)

April writing...

So here I am at work...with not much to do. Finished the typical workey-work stuff and now I have some free time. So I figured I would do a little digital scrapbooking! Here are some of my creations. (Well I say mine...but I got the kits for FREE and I am buidling the layouts off others ideas!) I don't THAT much creativity flowing yet! :)

My Husby Rocks Friday!

April writing...

Today...my husby rocks because he loves my puppies. When we first got Pickle, I always knew he wasn't pleased. Especially when there were accidents and chewed cords, etc. And then Pickle started growing on him...before long he was wanting another dog. So a little over a year ago, we added Olive to the mix.

At first, this didn't going well either...she messed with and got into fights with Pickle...(who had grown to be a Daddy's boy). But before long Cory's patience and perseverance to make things work shined through!

Now we are one big happy family. I know this is a BIG deal for my Cat-friendly husby, so thanks for ROCKIN' baby and loving what I love!

Simple Pleasure Thursday

Cory Writing....

My simple pleasure today is watching a baby just hang out. I have been feeling just yucky the last week or so. I can't seem to get rid of this sickness that I got Premiere weekend, but last night we went to Chick-Fil-A like we do every Wednesday. I sat next to Tessie and everyone was eating, but I wasn't because of my ickyness. So I just kind of watched Tessie hang out in her car seat. She sat there happy as a clam playing with her little hanging toys and playing with her tongue. She just looked so peaceful without a care in the world. Oh to be 5 months old again.

What is your simple pleasure this week?

Chalk this up as completely random

April writing...

I recently dumped my old Shampoo + Conditioner...Pantene. As much as I loved it's clean fragrance and dual cleaning/conditioning power...I was seduced by a new fragrance.

The soft, flowery, clean fragrance that is Herbal Essences new Hydralicious Collection.

The smell is simply to die for and my hair...has the softness I have longed for! I know...you're asking yourself, "And this deserved a blog post?" Well, yes it did. That's how I roll. A good shampoo and conditioner set is a dream in any woman's book. Try to tell me otherwise ladies...I propose you are then missing out. :)

Garden plans...I think I am more confused now!

April writing...

So...I need to know how to plan out my garden, I have new plants headed my way...as well as some lovely spring weather and I am ready to get started! So I figured I would put my minimal photoshop skills to the test and create a man-made design board so I could virtually move around the plants to design the best look.

So some of these are just ideas...some I love...we shall see. Let me know your thoughts!!!

Let's start with the back fence look. (and yes...I added in the fluffy trees!) I have always loved topiary's and I think they would be a perfect addition. We will be putting gravel on the side of our driveway...easiest maintenance.

My simplified version of the Side planter...using two of the current plants I have...the Hostas and the Boxwoods (well, we actually have Eyonomous...but I plan to switch those out for a more sturdy box evergreen) I like it...it's simple...but my heart yearns for MORE color!! and some HEIGHT!

But then...this is too much height and too much color I think. Ehhhh...hmmm...

And here's the front planter with a new Weeping Cherry tree...I want one SO bad!! With lots of color and height...but Cory says it's too much...and I kind of agree...boo.

So here we are simplified...matching the simplified plan for the side planter...but is it too blas'e??!!

So, here's Cory's version...with a little height...and color...but then I realized I didn't order Hollyhocks...I was too worried because I heard that they were poisonous to dogs. How bad would I feel right?? Killing poor doggies for a little color boost in my garden. But I could find other plants with height right?!

Oh I don't know...what are your thoughts? Should I add? Take away? Back yard ideas are coming soon!!! When I have another evening to waste while Cory catches up on shows I have already seen! haha!

Monday Moan

Cory Writing...

My Monday moan today happened yesterday when my family went out to dinner. We all went to Mongolian BBQ in Bethesda to celebrate my brother and dad's birthdays. April and I were watching little Tessie Leigh (Jason and Brittany's Daughter). She is 5 months old and we took her with us. So we get to the restaurant and we are standing in the lobby with a ton of people because it was too cold to stand outside. Tessie starts to get a little fussy because she is probably getting claustrophobic because it was tight.

April is doing her best to get Tessie to calm down and stop crying, but it wasn't working very well. There was a couple that was close to her that had a 3 or 4 year old with them and they were showing their daughter the baby and trying to occupy Tessie, but that wasn't working either. Then comes my reason for the Moan.

This snobby lady that probably had a nanny raise her kids starts giving my wife dirty looks because she can't get Tessie to stop fussing. All I can say is the lady should be glad I was across the way and couldn't get to her because I had some choice words for her.

I had no idea parents get looks from people like this. I would like to formally apologize to any parents that I might have given a dirty look to that had a fussy kid. Now I do realize that their is a difference between a fussy kid and a kid that is just misbehaving. Tessie was just fussy because of the circumstance. As soon as space opened up Tessie settled down and was a great girl the rest of the night.

That is my Monday Moan, lets hear yours.

She performed on her due date...

April writing...

I am not sure if you watched or not...but last weekend was the Grammy's. When I posted this back in November I was confused by the new music out these days...from people like Lady GaGa and MIA.

Well MIA herself showed up at the Grammy's...to perform...on her DUE date!

Yep...she was PREG-NANT! She wore some huge blimpee style dress...it was odd. THEN...she sang in this get up...
What in the world??? She looked like some kind of funky bug. I mean props to her for doing her thing on stage...but wow. Very interesting...

wow.

"I have a flower delivery...uh oh"

April writing...

Ladies...we know what these do to us...

The minute you see the delivery guy walk into the room, your heart immediately starts beating faster, you begin to look around the room hoping for everyone to see you receive roses from the one you love!

That's exactly what happened yesterday in my office.

There I was sitting at the front desk, like I do everyday. I was chatting with three other ladies from my office about poopy diapers if I remember correctly. That's when it happened. The front door opened and the delivery guy walked through with the roses blocking his face saying, "I have a flower delivery for...(he lowers the flowers and sees 4 women standing there, all I am sure with big hopeful smiles on their faces...) Uh-Oh."

We all giggle and apologize for our drooling eyes as he approaches the counter. I quickly deduce that the flowers are NOT for me, for a couple of reasons...one they are roses...I don't do roses...not my fav's and Cory knows that and two, because they are being delivered on Thursday, if they were from Cory he would have had them delivered on Friday...as this is the day we are celebrating Lovey Day.

I sign for the flowers and glance my eyes all around the paper looking for the name on the delivery. It was for another co-worker...the nice gentlemen leaves the office and the rest of my lady co-workers are kind of standing there quietly. Just then two more lady co-workers walk through the doors from the office and say, "Ohhhhhh who are THOSE for?!" with that same hopeful look as the rest of them...I say they are for Kristi.

...and then without missing a beat...they all go..."Ohhh that's sweet" and walk away. I could tell by their tone that they had to muster up all they could to congratulate the lucky lady and push back all sense of jealousy! haha! It was too funny.

Why do we do that? What is it about a flower delivery that makes us think our men are the most romantic men in the world? All they did was call up a company, pick out a bouquet and pay $60 to have it delivered. Ha...can you sense my feelings on flower deliveries? It's funny to see how immediately each woman began thinking to themselves..."Huh! Why aren't those for me?! Why couldn't my husband/boyfriend have flowers delivered for me!"

I just found it so amusing...especially to watch two of the ladies who didn't even have significant others get that glazed-over look in their eyes and just HOPE that they are for them. Even funnier was how after talking about it later with a few of those lady co-workers...we all kind of share the same sentiment...at least me and one other lady stated that we wouldn't even prefer to have flowers delivered and our husbands knew that...so why then did we hope that they were for us?! hahaha! I guess deep down each of us want to be wooed.

Lovey Day makes people crazy...high-larious.

My Husband Rocks Friday

April writing...

One word...Salsa. My husband rocks because last night I wanted Tacos for dinner (so did he!) and I knew we would need to run to the store for tortilla shells...however we also needed salsa. Not just any salsa either. I needed his Dad's salsa. You see, for those of you who don't know Cory's dad makes this killer homemade salsa. It is just simply wonderful and addicting! I refuse to have Tacos without it...it seems like a crime!

Well we knew that he had a HUGE bucket of it stored in the Cafe at church. So we drove up to the church, Cory swiped us in and we made our way to the Cafe. All doors were locked. We tried to unlock and lift up the folding window to get in as we couldn't very well get through the other locked doors without a key.

It didn't work. I was so upset too...by this point after about 30 minutes of dreaming of this salsa, I just knew I had to have it or Taco night was off! So we locked up the church, headed out into the parking lot and I called his Mom.

"Do you guys have the keys for the Cafe with you?" "No," she said "but John might have left them in the kitchen at our house. Call him and check."

"Hey John, it's April...do you have your keys to the Cafe or are they at home?" "Oh they are hanging in the kitchen at home, you can swing by and get them if you need them."

I hung up and smiled a big devilish smile at Cory...he knew what we had to do next. So we drove BACK towards our house, passing it to get to his parents house, he ran in, got the keys and then we headed all the way back to the church.

We got there...went inside and filled up a HUGE jar of salsa to complete our Taco night. We picked up the rest of what we needed at the store and headed home to enjoy it all!

My husby rocks cause as much as he didn't want to run all over town just for salsa, he knew how badly I wanted it...and he did it.

THANKS baby...I think those were the best tacos ever! :)

Moral of the story - If your Father-In-Law runs the Cafe at church, especially if that is where he stores his salsa stash...get a spare key made for you...afterall, you ARE family!

...hahaha! This poor kid!

April writing...

So meet David. He is a 7 year old who had an extra tooth removed last summer. His Dad had the camera because he was so nervous before and he wanted him to see the before and after. His Dad said, "He was so out of it after, I had to carry him out of the office. The staff was trying to keep from laughing. I had tears from laughing so hard. He is doing fine now and the teeth are great."

Enjoy...this is SO funny!

The Climb by Miley Cyrus

April writing...

It's no secret that I am a closet fan of Miley Cyrus...not so much her personal escapades and inappropriate pictures, but more her voice and the lyrics of some of her songs.

For example I am currently enjoying The Climb. There is a video below for your viewing pleasure (well I don't know about viewing pleasure...it's kinda cheesy and flashy...but whatev) and below that are the lyrics. It's got a great message...I especially love the part where she says, "Ain't about how fast I get there. Ain't about what's waitin on the other side. It's the climb."

Enjoy.

I can almost see it.
That dream I'm dreamin
But there's a voice inside my head saying you'll never reach it.
Every step I'm taking.
Every move I make feels lost with no direction.
My faith is shakin.

But I gotta keep tryin.
Gotta keep my head held high.

There's always gonna be another mountain.
I'm always gonna wanna make it move.
There's always gonna be an uphill battle
But sometimes I'm gonna have to lose.
Ain't about how fast I get there.
Ain't about what's waitin on the other side.
It's the climb.

The struggles I'm facin.
The chances I'm takin.
Sometimes might knock me down but I'm not breaking.
I may not know it but these are the moments
that I'm gonna remember most, yeah.
Just gotta keep goin.

And I gotta be strong.
Just keep pushing on 'cause,

There's always gonna be another mountain.
I'm always gonna wanna make it move.
There's always gonna be an uphill battle
But sometimes I'm gonna have to lose.
Ain't about how fast I get there.
Ain't about what's waitin on the other side.
It's the climb.

There's always gonna be another mountain.
I'm always gonna wanna make it move.
There's always gonna be an uphill battle
But sometimes you're gonna have to lose.
Ain't about how fast I get there.
Ain't about what's waitin on the other side.
It's the climb.

I'm sad about this...

April writing...

Ok, Ok...I know that I don't normally use our blog as a sounding board for Celeb gossip...but I have finally decided how sad I am about the following situation.

You see it seems that Saturday night (2/7) the handsome Chris Brown "choked, slapped and punched" his girlfriend, the absolutely beautiful Rihanna.

Wha?!

I know...that's what I said. How sad!! Apparently there was a fight, where Rihanna grabbed the keys from the ignition and through them out the window. This really ticked Mr. Brown off and he let her know by way of some domestic violence. There is never a reason for a fight to escalate into domestic violence. I feel it is a very cowardly act.

Here's another reason I am sad. I am sure for both (especially and hopefully if he feels regret) that this is a very embarrassing situation, and they are living it out quite publicly. For him, I feel his career will never be the same. This isn't the same type of publicity that will skyrocket your career say as not wearing any underwear or getting drunk at a party and getting snapped by the paps.

It has already impacted my opinion of him...this morning while riding to work...No Air by Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown came on the air and after a few seconds, sadly I felt the need to switch to another station...just because he was singing.

But I know what you are thinking...and I agree with you....he did this to himself. It's just sad. Not that I knew them as a couple...but those of us who follow celeb gossip (a guilty pleasure of mine) we kind of hope and wish for good things for some couples...like Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, Ryan Goseling and Rachel McAdams (too late for that one) and others. At one point I had hoped for better for Chris and Rihanna. They seemed so cute together...look here they are in what seemed like happier times...

...although in this last one, he was probably whispering in her ear something like, "I am going to beat you later girl...you ok wit dat?" Sorry...I got carried away.

Anyways...it's just sad. Domestic Violence is never good, especially in the public eye to people who represent role models in young peoples lives.

What are your thoughts on the matter?

Simple Pleasure Thursday

Cory Writing......
Simple Pleasure Thursday has come and my simple pleasure is seeing how God can take something that we think will be bad and make it good.
Our youth group went to Winterfest this last weekend and it is something we do once a year. It is basically a multi state youth rally. Well this year the lineup was very weak and the cost was very high. So our numbers were down and those of us going weren't to siked about the lineup. We went and it is amazing how much God moved the whole entire weekend. I believe some of our students had awesome breakthroughs.

Hmmm. I'm not sure how I feel about all this...

April writing...

They have a website now. The Suleman Family...Nadya and her 14 kiddos. You can donate money and there is also an address to donate stuff to as well.

I just don't know how I feel about it all. I watched her interview on Dateline. I sat and listened to her explain why she did what she did. Why she feels that her actions weren't selfish or irresponsible.

I am feeling differently thought, her actions WERE selfish and they WERE irresponsible. I won't take the stance as most have, complaining about the fact that there are so many women out there right now that can't conceive and you have this lady spitting out kids left and right with no source of income or no father-figure in their lives. I won't take the stance and say that she just did this for media attention...as I believe there are far more things you could do for media attention, than bringing 14 kids into the world. I think her reasoning has a deeper more psychological meaning.

I have TWO points...and only TWO points.

#1 - What kind of bat-brained Doctor implanted her with 6 eggs at her age? The average is number of eggs implanted is only 2-3....4 at most at that is if you are OVER the age of 35 and have decreased chances of conceiving. I think after 6 kids, her chances weren't TOO low. Someone needs to call him on his actions. I know that there are laws in place, where if the patient wants all 6 implanted then that is what they can get....however I DO know that Doctors can say that they will not do the procedure and she would have to go else where. I mean for heaven's sake...she went to the SAME doctor for her 6 other children...he KNEW she wasn't married, he KNEW she had no source of income...what was he thinking?

#2 - She has some serious mental instability. She basically came right out and said it. She needs to have love and connection to people. She said she didn't like being an only child and she has always wanted a big family. That's all fine and good...IF you can provide for them! And NO...using food stamps and welfare and donations from saps all over the Internet doesn't count as providing for them. What if that falls through?

I dunno...my thoughts are just all over the place on this one. I don't like what she has done...but my heart goes out to the children. While it seems like she is a great mother and very dearly loves all of her them...she alone cannot provide for them adequately...and that's a shame.

What are your thoughts?

*Additional note - I am reading this morning 2/12 that Nadya (the mother) is getting death threats. Come one people...let's complain about her abusing the system and how can she care for 14 kids alone...and then we are going to kill her? That makes tons of sense. Oi, this world we live in.*

Lovey Day is almost here...

April writing...

Well...it's like two and half days till Lovey Day (Valentine's Day) and I hope you are ready!!! Cory and I will actually be celebrating this special day on Friday evening...as we have the Sadie Hawkins Party at church on Saturday night. (Which I hope turns out well)

So far, we have planned that we will be going to PF Changs for their $39.95 Couple's 4-Course Meal Deal. (who doesn't love a deal) And who knows after that...maybe snuggling at home over a couple good movies. I will of course be hosting Cory's Annual Lovey Day Clue Hunt...preparations on that are almost complete, and he will be receiving his gift which is a...sike, did you really think I was gonna tell ya!? I have already gotten my Lovey Day gift...it was a new iPod Nano (he wanted me to have it for our trip last weekend) and I love it!!! I am sure he has some other ideas to make the day special too...

So I am excited. What are your plans for Lovey Day?
