I Tried It...

April writing...

I tried it.

The "As Seen on TV" Smooth Away hair removal strips. Stated to "remove hair instantly and pain free."

I thought I was buying little strips of sandpaper...but it wasn't like that at all. Sorry for my lame pictures...I tried this on my lunch break at work...the lighting at my desk isn't that great.

Here is the assembled smooth away pad...on the handy-dandy little holder.

Here's my leg hair beforehand...about a day and half's worth...horrible, I know.

And here's my leg (same spot) after one treatment with the Smooth Away applicator. (a little blurry)

I can assure you...they are smooth. And it WAS pain free. It actually felt quite nice...like a little leg rub-down.

Now...let me give you a run down of my thoughts.

For $9.99 you get 5 big applicator pads and 5 mini pads...along with two applicator holders. (one big, one mini) + you get a little travel case. I am not sure how long any one applicator lasts...I figure that would be best determined based on hair length, texture and how often they are used.

Then on that note...when would you use these? I mean, granted not many of us ladies enjoy spending an additional 10 minutes in the shower to shave...and those darn razors cost so much these days (the good ones at least)...so I guess I could take care of the hair while watching the boob tube or laying in bed. So I guess it's a water saver in the end :P.

I know with me, there have been many times where I have gotten somewhere and realized that I haven't shaved...so they would be helpful in cases like that, but then I would actually have to carry it with me. Would I do that? (After all, they do give you the travel case...)

In order to really see if these little babies are beneficial to me, I would have to see how long they last. So I guess there will be a follow up to this post soon. In the meantime, I will leave you with what pros and cons I have so far.

Pros:
  • Cheap
  • They work
  • Don't need, razors or water
Cons:
  • Have to carry them with you
  • Buy replacement pads (how often, is still up in the air)
  • a little slower process then shaving
So, Smooth Away...your benefits are still up in the air for me...while I find you interesting and somewhat useful...I am not sure if I will keep you around as a substantial alternate to shaving...only time will tell.

Haha, that's so funny.. I'm soooo glad you posted about this. I've been thinking about getting it. Everytime I see those darn commercials!! I just may have to go out today and get it. I think I even saw a coupon for it in one of my weekly newspapers!

Knowing that it actually works, I'm sold. Seriously - my legs are so boney that I'm forever cutting myself. Not to MENTION the raxor burn when I'm in a hurry AND the missed hairs you see as soon as the sun shines on your legs.

I want to try them, now, knowing that they work. I bet I'd shave more often (trust me... I need to something FIERCE!) with these puppies, too! :-)
