Monday Moan
Sorry I didn't get this on sooner, but when I am off work it throws me off. I usually do my blogging at work.
Today's Monday Moan is about how Credit Cards are just way to easy to use. I am frustrated with how I spent money as I young whipper snapper. I am blaming most of it on the easy use credit cards and a little bit on my in ability to control my spending. I am paying for this know because my life is somewhat controlled by earning the almighty dollar. Money is spent so quickly, but made so slowly.
That is my Monday Moan and I look forward to hearing yours. This Thursday will be Thanksgiving, so Simple Pleasure Thursday will be substituted for Why I am Thankful Thursday.

My Husband Rocks Friday
April writing...
Why does my husband rock? Let me count the ways...10. His smile and his laugh...when he's happy...I'm happy.
9. When he opens the car door for me...he's not perfect at this...but when he does, it warms my heart.
8. His goofy side.
7. His desire to be a Father is as strong as mine to be a Mother.
6. He is a great uncle.
5. He is a great 'adopted' big brother.
4. When he cooks dinner with me...this is a great time to talk.
3. He works so hard everyday, whether at home or at work.
2. He challenges himself to be a better person.
1. He loves Jesus and loves being the head of our household. He does an amazing job!
I love you HUBBY :)

Baby Signs® Program
It's official. I am a Certified Independent Instructor with the Baby Signs® Program! I am gearing up to schedule my first classes!!
Allow me to introduce you the Program!!
This program was pioneered by "Dr. Mom's," Linda Acredolo and Susan Goodwyn, authors of the best-selling book, BABY SIGNS: How to Talk with Your Baby Before Your Baby Can Talk.
The purpose of the Baby Signs® Program is to give babies a way to communicate before they can talk. It provides babies with the signs that they can use most easily to express their needs, thoughts and feelings until they have words.
The Baby Signs® Program is based on American Sign Language (ASL) with a few "baby-friendly" modifications to make them easier for babies to do. The Baby Signs® Program also offers baby-created signs that closely match babies' direct experiences, like blowing for "hot," pinching fingers as if picking up Cheerios for "cereal," and panting for "dog."
In the Baby Signs® Program, you have the flexibility to use signs that work best for your family. Signing is about communication, understanding and intimacy between you and your baby. In the end, whatever signs you use, you are opening the world to your baby and opening your baby's world to you.
I am really excited to have the opportunity to share the Baby Signs® Program with all of you because throughout all of my training I have truly seen the benefits in many families lives. I have always wanted to teach my own children (when the time comes) to be able to communicate with Cory and I at an earlier age.
There are some great classes that the Baby Signs® Program offers, let me start with the first step:
"The Parent Workshop"
This class is hosted for approx. 60-90 minutes. At this class you will find out What the Baby Signs® Program is all about, Why the Baby Signs® Program is so popular, When to get started and How to choose and teach signs.
The cost for this workshop is $50 per person and that includes the Baby Signs® Parent Kit filled with everything you will need for the workshop and what you will need to start signing with your baby at home.
"The Sign, Say & Play Classes"
This class is hosted for 6 weeks, with 1 45-60 minute session per week. At these classes parents and children attend together and they are introduced to activities to stimulate a baby's development in many areas. Each class offers signs and activities based on specific areas of interest, i.e. Mealtime, Bedtime, Bath Time, Getting Dressed, Pets and the Park.
The cost for these classes are $125 per family and that includes the Baby Signs® Sign, Say & Play Kit filled with so many fun learning tools for your family to use as well as what you will need for each class.
There are also other extension workshops such as the Potty Training Demo, MORE Sign, Say & Play Classes and the Early Childhood Educator Training.
There are also MANY great products for use with the Baby Signs® Program. Here you can view the PRODUCTS. I will highlight just a few of them:
BeeBo Music Bundle, BeeBo DVD Bundle, BeeBo Book Bundle
DVD Fun Pack, I Can Sign Complete DVD Series, Potty Training Kit
What's the deal with these two...
April writing...
What's up with musicians these days...for example these two ladies...M.I.A. and Lady GaGa...what the heck? Check out M.I.A:
What is she wearing??? And what's up with her music? Here are some lyrics:
I fly like paper, get high like planes
If you catch me at the border
I got visas in my name
If you come around here,
I make 'em all day
I get one down in a second if you wait
Sometimes I think sitting on trains
Every stop I get to I'm clocking that game
Everyone's a winner
now we're making that fame
Bonafide hustler making my name
All I wanna do is (BANG BANG BANG BANG!)
And (KKKAAAA CHING!)
And take your money
????
And then you have Lady GaGa...who sings into an Ice Princess microphone and who in the world knows what she is wearing either....
And here are some of her lyrics:
Don't be dirty ice cream, baby
We could find it off but it's too early to be calling me like that
Stop calling us, stop calling
It's not in decision, just my female intuition
Doesn't mean you can't be calling me like that
Stop calling us, stop calling
I can't live with you, yes it's true or live without
The kinda guy that I'm...
You kiss me like a rockstar and
You always wanna hold my hand
But we only been a one day, baby
Yeah, I know it was fun to start acting crazy
I don't really find it very cute or sexy
When you call her incessantly, t-t-text me
I just don't get it anymore...where is the MUSIC????
Simple Pleasure Thursday.
Today is simple pleasure Thursday and my simple pleasure is the art of being able to communicate with your spouse effectively.
My wife and I do this very well. Don't get me wrong we aren't' perfect at it, but it has been a focus. We have taken the time to go to counseling for it and in the last five years we have dedicated ourselves to learning each others communication styles.
Last night I got to see the results of our hard work. We had a conversation about finances (a tense subject in its own right). We were able to communicate our points and come to what I believe was a great compromise and decision. With no moments of intense fellowship.
I love you baby and glad we are making improvements on our communication.

I'm going crazy today...
So I am surfing the net today...a lot...and I ran across this little number. Oh the ways I could have fun with this. I am picturing shooting the little marshmallows at my dogs, although they would thoroughly enjoy that I am sure. Or we could use them at Verb...either way...TOO FUN! And I want to make one!!!
Here's how...
File this under..."What the...?"
April writing...
So tell me this...you hire a security guard...you know, to protect, to watch out for crimes, to potentially chase down thieves, to GUARD.
Something tells me that may be HARD to do with a bad foot...eh?
Yep, that's a Wackenhut Security Guard (from the local bank here in Columbia) with a boot on...one of those "I-hurt-my-foot-somehow-so-now-I-wear-this-boot-thingee" boot.Yeah...I bet he'll catch ANYONE who tries to run off with money!
Wordless Wednesday...and other nonsense
Well...I didn't make it as a finalist with my greeblepix picture for this month, but alas...I will try again in December!! One day I will make it...it's bound to happy right? After all this was my FIRST try!!
Now onto really good news...I lost 1.2 pounds!! Which is terribly exciting seeing how I have been doing REALLY bad since about July. Just the up and down with the weight and I think I have finally kicked myself back into gear! So yeah!!!
You can follow my Weight Loss Journey here!!
Now onto the real reason for this post...the Wordless Wednesday...well at least semi-wordless from HERE down... :)

oh for pete's sake...
Seriously?
(I know the picture is not clear but you will get my idea)
If you are going to post an ad about someone feeling overweight...then why the heck would you use a picture of someone who is probably UNDERWEIGHT??!
I suppose it is to make those who may not THINK their overweight, now want to JUMP of a BRIDGE because according to your ad, if you are able to pinch a little flab of skin on your side, then chances are you are FAT.
So if truth be told, when I pinch my side and I get a handful of junk, then I must be stinkin' morbidly obese...thus leading me to purchase your product so I can lose weight and soon only have a small flap of skin to squeeze. Or is the idea for me to have NOTHING to squeeze?
Whatever.
p.s. - oh and I am also confused by this...why is it that skinny girl on the left 'hearts' her belly button, but equally skinny girl on the right is showing us, using the 'pinch' method, that she feels she is fat.
Again I say...whatever.
So this is tuesday...
and I have a cause of the blah's.
I had to literally drag myself out of bed this morning. I had a wondrous night sleep though. You see before bed, I washed our sheets and comforter, and then I showered and shaved my legs. There is no better combination. Not to mention it was so warm under there...and even though our little heater (we still haven't turned on our heat) was oscillating it's warmth around the room...nothing could compare to the bear hug my comforter was providing me.
But I did it. And I drove my self squinting and fighting off sleep all the way to work for...nothing. Not a T H I N G to do. Seriously. Not that I am complaining...but there are no specs to type, no filing to do...nothing. The phone is barely ringing. And this situation is not helping my sleepiness...well rather my draw back to the warm bed I left at home.
I did it all yesterday...cleaned my desk (including dusting and organization) and I filed my "to-be-filed" inbox, I typed up the last of the specs for a deadline, (that was yesterday at 4pm), and I went through my inbox and filed all my completed projects and I even cleaned up the supply closet, box and shipping closet and the copier center. I completely transitioned us from using DHL as our primary shipper to UPS, I printed the new 2009 calendar...early and I made new birthday lists for everyone's desks.
So that left me...nothing...for today.
Well...almost nothing. I have one project, that I work on when I have nothing to do...but it I am not careful...and I don't pace my 'not-much-to-do' self carefully, I will complete that project and then not have my go-to project on other days like this. I also have a long list of things that I can do for Verb/Jason...but that won't take me long either. But should I do them, then really have nothing to do??
So there...I have the blah's and one very important decision to make. Breakfast...bagel or english muffin?
And I have officially only wasted 10 minutes of my own time to blog this ridiculously unnecessary post and you...I am sure you are feeling as though your time was wasted too. My bad...it wasn't my intention.
but you see...I have the blah's...so I cannot really be held responsible.

My Husband Rocks Friday
April writing...
My Husband Rocks because he is such a good man. He has integrity and passion and even at times compassion (gasp! heehee) The more I learn about my husband the more that I grow to love his cynical yet passionate personality. There are many layers to my dear man, he's like an onion...(haha, semi-Shrek reference) He is loyal, but he will write you off if you hurt him or a loved-one. I love to hear him get all geared up over a situation, because that way I know he has thought about it, and formed his opinion and stands behind it whole-heartedly.It seems odd to say it...but I think I love him the more layers I find...it makes it interesting when it comes to communication or knowing what to expect...but that's just more excitement for me!!
I love you my onion-y layered hubby! :)

Simple Pleasure Thursday.
Today's simple pleasure is going to seem like I am bragging, but please understand the nature of my pleasure.
My simple pleasure is coming up with a brilliant idea to stop by the store and get my wife flowers to take to work, so her day will be filled with pleasure. I stopped by the store to pick out said flowers and to my pleasure I locate my wife's favorite flower. Not to mention her favorite flower, but it is in my price range. I was able to get her flowers, her favorite kind and in my price range. What an awesome simple pleasure.
Now let me hear your simple pleasures. You guys have let me down the last couple weeks on Monday Moans and Simple Pleasure Thursdays. Lets pick it up. wink wink.

Why I loved SYTYCD.
1. Eating
Here's all the ladies...*not shown - Terri and April* Brittany, Mary Ann, Beks, Erin and Brandy.
My FAVORITE Dance! *oh and if you will notice, Will has his shirt off. *cheese*
Oh friendly neighborhood homeless flasher...he respects the art of serenading construction workers...and this is right before the thanked us with a shot of his man-boobs.
SYTYCD Tour is TONIGHT!
Ok...tonight is the So You Think You Can Dance tour and I am SO stinkin' excited! I just watched some of my favorite dances from this season and I am SO pumped for tonight! It will be Myself, Brittany, Terri, Brandy, Bekah, Mary Ann and Erin.
It is going to be SO much fun!! So, in honor of my outstanding evening ahead...allow me to share some of my favorite dances with you!!! (Some of these videos you may have to skip ahead to the actual dance!) And they are in no particular order.
This dance included Will (and his gorgeous man-body) and Jessica (whom I really hope is there, since a broken rib got her knocked out of the top 10 and replaced with freakin' COMFORT! boo!)
Now this little number is so great...cause it includes "Twitchington" which is Twitch and Kherrington. Such a great dance!
Now this one has Katie and Joshua (Joshua was the winner) and he was amazing. Katie grew on me...but this was a really neat dance too!
Another goodie, with Mark and Chelsie...they were an OK couple...Mark was a wierdo ha!
Now here's my last goodie (although there were others, but I could do this all day!) This one includes Katie and Twitch...so fun!
So I am sure I will have some fun pics to share tomorrow. I am off to have FUN!!!
Monday Moan
Today I don't have a really great Monday Moan, but I was able to come up with something.
Today's Monday Moan is having to repeat myself. This doesn't stem from my wife not listening to me. It stems from having to repeat myself to dispatchers at my work. There is nothing more annoying then getting on the radio to give information to someone and after you are all done giving that information to them. They respond by saying, "can you repeat that." I just want to scream, "NO I CANT REPEAT THAT." All they have to do is listen for pete sake.
Ok let me hear your Monday Moans.

Chariots of Fire - The Home Remodel Edit from April Eslick on Vimeo.
hahaha....oh man....I have too much time on my hands :)
Simple Pleasure Thursday.
Todays simple pleasure is thinking about what you are going to do the next day and realizing that you have one more full day until to have to go back to work. I love my days off.
Share your simple pleasures friends. I was very disappointed at the response on the Monday Moan Blog.
I can't seem to get out of my FOG
April writing...
I am stuck...I don't know if it is busyness or just not really having anything to write about. (Although that has never stopped me in the past! ha!)But I will be back...I am gearing myself up to start off November with bang-worthy-blogs with humor, wit and all the other awesomeness that comes with a 2slicksgoodtimes blogspot.
Shall we start with the supposed impending doom that is the holidays??? I can already feel the calendar pages slipping by...speeding towards December 31st...I am already out of breath. I am however thankful for the sermon that our Pastor preached last holiday season, about the true meaning of Christmas...wha? You haven't ever heard a sermon like that??!! :) jk.
Well, I know it made an impact on my family as a whole. (yep...both sides) The bottom line is...it's not our birthday. Nowadays we get SO caught up in what we are buying whom, what we will be receiving, how we can be that friend that always gives the best Christmas gifts...but it's not OUR birthdays. It's his.
Yep, that's right...Baby Jesus. *heehee* but no, really...all humor aside. It truly is a day to remember HIS birth, his story, his life...and we have been defined every year by the Black Friday sales for the best toys, and the credit card offers, and the DEBT that buying presents for people who's birthday it is NOT brings us.
If we seriously, take a step back and realize what the Christmas season is really about, what we will get in return is a happier, slower, healthier and debt-free Christmas season. What a gift to US!!
Last year was our first year without focus on buying presents. Without spending at least a thousand dollars on presents that 80% of which are rarely used and have no meaning in the grand scheme of things. It was wonderful. My side of the family in fact, instead of exchanging gifts at all we all pooled $50 each and went to Medieval Times as a family, we had a blast. So in one moment we exchanged what could have been hundreds in potentially unused presents for quality time with each other. *sigh* That's me already breathing a little better. With Cory's side of the family, if I remember correctly we only did stockings. Each of the adults drew a name out and we each had one stocking to fill. *sigh* The kids even got less presents...now don't feel sad for them.
I honestly feel as though we are teaching them a lifelong lesson. Honestly, take a look at your children if you have them, or children around you. Look at their attitudes during the Christmas season...is it an attitude of "I want" or and attitude of "I will give" or what? For us taking a look at our family, we could slowly see the desire for presents, presents and more presents growing each year and it was hard to keep up with. It's not their fault at all...the world has even driven kids to believe that this time of the year is all about what they can receive, what they can get for being 'good'...when that is not the true meaning at all.
I know I am rambling and I am sure that you get the idea. After all that is said, our Pastors challenge was to in fact turn all the presents and attention towards our family and friends actual birthdays...the day that is actually theirs! And in turn make the holiday season only about Jesus and his birth and life and the story of salvation that he brought to our lives!
I know it seems early to talk of Holidays, but hey, Walmart already has Christmas stuff out and I actually heard a Christmas carol on the radio two days ago...it's coming people. Do you know where you stand? Do you know who's birthday you will truly be celebrating this season?
p.s. - I guess when I try it's not that hard to blog at thought or two from my head. :)

Monday Moan
Today is the start of another week and I can't believe that it is already November. Before we know it it's going to be Christmas, but before we get to Christmas or even Thanksgiving I am going to hit you with my Monday Moan.
My moan this weeks stems back to the beginning of life (AKA When God created Heaven and Earth).
Genesis 3:17 And God said to Adam, "Because you listened to your wife's voice and ate from the tree which I commanded you, "Do not eat from it": The ground is cursed because of you. You will eat from it by means of painful labor all the days of your life.
There you have it friends my Monday Moan. In case you missed it....My Monday Moan is the fact that we have to work. I long for the days that Adam and Eve spent in the Garden just running around having a great time with God and each other. Not having to worry about sin, temptation, food, bills, going to work and just life in general.
Thank you for sharing your time with me. Please share your Monday Moans with all of us.
