Monday Moan

Cory Writing...

Today I don't have a really great Monday Moan, but I was able to come up with something.

Today's Monday Moan is having to repeat myself. This doesn't stem from my wife not listening to me. It stems from having to repeat myself to dispatchers at my work. There is nothing more annoying then getting on the radio to give information to someone and after you are all done giving that information to them. They respond by saying, "can you repeat that." I just want to scream, "NO I CANT REPEAT THAT." All they have to do is listen for pete sake.

Ok let me hear your Monday Moans.

My moan is...I got caught up on sleep this weekend. (Sorry for those of you who aren't getting much i.e. Brittany and Sarah) I know, your probably saying, "Uh, April...that's not a moan..." but my MOAN related to this is...no matter how much sleep you get sometimes...you still don't feel rested. How the heck is that?

Cory,
I can honestly say that I try my hardest NOT to "10-9" (does AACO use that ten-code?) my guys but every once in awhile, when they sound like they're riding down the road with their head out the window, ya gotta do what ya gotta do... and then we have the guys who sound like they've got a wad of chew in their mouth or the ones who sound like they're eating their microphone... gotta love it!

April,
I know EXACTLY what you mean because I've hit that point in my life too... I think it's because we're getting old! The older I get, the more sleep I need! It makes me wish I had appreciated the beauty of naps when I was younger. Sleep is absolutely one of my favorite pasttimes!! =)

Nikki,

Yes we do use 10-9 and I totally understand it is needed, but our dispatchers are being ridiculous.

Cory,
I just re-read my post to you and, in hindsight, I think I made it sound like I was belitting your Monday Moan... I'm so sorry! I didn't mean for it to sound like that, my intention was actually to let you know that I could totally relate! Some of the people I work with 10-9 like it's their job... we had one guy who called into dispatch on October 9th to wish said dispatcher a Happy Birthday. Needless to say, 10-9 ISN'T her birthday and she didn't appreciate his little joke... but the rest of us sure did!! LoL

It's probably mean but I find satisfaction in repeating what the deputy said just as the dispatcher asks them to 10-9, just to prove that I could hear what was said the FIRST time around! =)

I completely understand your frustration though... they're supposed to be your lifeline and God forbid you're not able to 10-9 sometime, then what?! Stay safe out there... and thanks for keeping the rest of us safe! =)
